There are a few incentives that Sugar Swing Ballroom provides for its social dances and classes!

Group Rates at Dance Socials

Many people like coming to a Friday or Saturday dance with a group of people to celebrate their birthday or engagement. It’s a great way to bring your friends together for a fun night out! To make it happen, please contact us ahead of time at our office: we may offer you a ‘group rate’ of $2 off the usual admission if you bring a group of 8 or more people.

Retaking Classes

If it is your first time through a class level, you pay regular price. However, if you want to retake a course, you might be eligible for a discount. For classes, check below to see if you qualify. If you believe so, simply register online for the class. You may choose to pay then receive a refund (contact our office), or contact our office to have us update your order. They will verify if you’re eligible, and payment can be done online or in-person.

Retaking Partnered & Jazz Classes

  • Swing 1, Swing 2, Balboa 1, Jazz 1, Jazz 2, Blues 1, Blues 2

Guarantees your spot in the class

  • 25% off to retake, whether in same role or opposite role. If you completed the full semester (all parts) of any of these courses. On condition that the student has either:
    a) completed the semester of that level within the last year. For example, student completed Swing 1 in April, but wants to retake Swing 1 in May or September or January. OR,
    b) completed a semester at the next higher level at any time in the past. For example, student is retaking Swing 1, but completed Swing 2 three years ago.

Volunteering for Partnered Classes

You are not guaranteed a spot in the class as a volunteer.

  • If you are currently taking a higher level or have completed a full semester at a higher level, you may volunteer, at no charge, for a lower level course. For example, a student is currently taking Swing 2 or completed Swing 2 previously. They are eligible to volunteer for Swing 1.
  • You must be volunteering in the same role you completed your prior courses. Some exemptions may be made upon request (eg, you’re on Mad Cat Swing; or, you regularly dance that role at social dances)
  • Subject to instructor approval and necessity of lead/follow balance
  • Disclaimer: Volunteers are not guaranteed spots in the class and are subject to getting bumped last-moment.

Retaking Swing 3

As Swing 3 is considered a higher levelled course, we currently do not offer standard discounts for retaking this course.

Retaking Tap Classes

It is pretty common to retake a Tap Class more than once (ie, 2x or 3x) before moving up a level.

  • 25% Off for retaking any lower level tap class while student is currently enrolled in a higher-level Tap class at the same time. For example, a student is enrolled in Tap 3 but also wants to take Tap 2 at the same time.

Youths & Senior Discount

For all our classes, events & socials, we can provide the following discounts:

6 & under: free at socials, cannot participate in adult classes or workshops unless permitted by Staff
7-15 years: 25% off
65+ years: 25% off
