Weddings
Sugar Swing can liven up your wedding reception with explosive performances, ice-breaking lessons, and hosted songs to involve the crowd. Better yet, we can teach the bride and groom how to swing dance so they can do their own show for the first dance!
We can customize your wedding package to include all the above, or just a couple things. Pricing will be similar to those found here, but please call for a quote, as the more services you require, the greater the savings. Here are some ideas to get you started:
- Take a few private lessons ahead of time so you can learn how to dance for your own wedding.
- Have a pre-wedding group swing dance lesson with your wedding party - help them dance and meet each other.
- Follow up the banquet or speeches with a swing dance demonstration, a half-hour lesson, and 3-4 hosted songs.
Basic equipment use (amps, speakers, music players) and demo/lesson music is included in our services. If you need help arranging venues or dance music, feel free to give us a call. Contact Birkley at 780-604-7572 or birkley(at)sugarswing.com for rates and to book.
Wedding Private Lessons
Swing is fun, exciting, and entertaining. Why not learn a few moves for your first dance, or even the dance afterwards? Birkley and Julie has worked with many couples to prep them for their big day, ranging from a casual, non-choreographed routine to a strictly choreographed masterpiece.
- Scheduling: Whatever works for your schedule and our schedule - just propose us some dates and times, and we'll go from there!
- 1 or 2 instructors: It's good to stick with 1 instructor for all the sessions, but it is a good idea to have the other instructor come in for 1-2 lessons. Different perspectives always help! Two instructors for every lesson aren't necessary, but it's a good way to maximize your time if you're short on time.
- Fees: Paid per lesson directly to your instructor. Pricing found here. Choreography extra, ranging from $75-$125 per song.
- Non-choreographed: As instructors, we recommend this route as it puts less pressure on the couple and the lead to memorize the sequence of moves! It usually takes couples 4-5 lessons and a bit of practice for them to feel comfortable performing for a wedding dance.
- Choreographed: Although this is always subjective and variable, it usually takes 8-10 lessons and lots of rehearsal on your own time. Also, a one-time choreography fee will need to be applied.
- Venue: As we are in the process of getting a permanent space, we may come to your place or a venue of your own booking, or we can look into a venue for you. Pricing can range from $0-$30 extra per hour.
