Private and Group Lessons

Sugar Swing provides quality instruction for both individuals and groups. Birkley and Julie are regularly available, and have taught dozens if not hundreds of private lessons and group lessons, from absolute beginner to advanced, from 1 to 100 people!

Private Lessons

With over six years of instructing each, both Julie and Birkley have much experience. You can trust that we will deliver a private lesson that enables you to become a better dancer. A common situation we deal with: a wedding couple looking to do a fun, refreshing "first dance". Also, we commonly instruct beginner though intermediate dancers looking to get to the next level.

Two instructors: $95 for 1 hour

One instructor: $55 for 1 hour

We're willing to provide discounts for regulars of Sugar Swing, workshop participants (if applicable), and also those looking to take 3+ lessons. Further, if you are on a tight budget and would like to consider a newer instructor with less experience, both Krystal and Jason are available.

Performing

Julie and Birkley direct an eight-person ensemble of swing and jazz dancers known as Mad Cat Swing. We can perform 1-3 numbers with just one couple, or else several routines with the whole group. A common need is for us to perform a few numbers and teach a mini lesson to a mixed audience. Please see our performing services page to learn more!

Group Lessons

We can come right to you, at your convenience, and teach any number of people! Perhaps you have a birthday party, company event, or a singles party? Swing dancing is the perfect party-maker, as it's fun, easy, and energizing.

We teach not only dance, but do history lessons, video presentations, demonstrations, and performances, in multiple combinations, for any length of time!

Rates will vary depending on daytime/night-time, day of week, type of functions, size of group, and location. We have some standard rates but these factors make it impossible to post these details here.

Availability: We typically have lots of availability during weekday daytime, especially Fridays. Saturdays and Sundays are also commonly available. Our instructors Birkley, Julie, Krystal, Gary, Jason, and Masani are all willing to instruct!

Demonstrations & Performances:

Hosted Songs & Hosted Events:

Rates starting at $30 per hour plus admin fee. Please call or email Birkley for a quote.

The above quoted rates are standard, but expect healthy discounts when you want to do more than one thing, or hire us for multiple occasions!
