Welcome to the Sugar Swing Dance Club

Sugar Swing is happy to bring you two of the world's best swing dancers, along with live music, for three sensational days of dancing this October 16-18, 2009, dubbed "Lindy Harvest".

Todd Yannacone and Ramona Staffeld, both part of the highly regarded "Silver Shadows" performance group, are international performers, instructors, and competitors. Each has won titles at the most prestigious competitions, including the Ultimate Lindy Hop Showdown, Rhythmic Arts Festival, US Open Swing Dance Championships, All Balboa Weekend, American Lindy Hop Competition, and many more. Both have taught and performed at Herrang Dance Camp in Sweden, Camp Jitterbug, Barswingona, amongst others.

Ramona brings grace and style to the dance floor. Combined with incredible technique and a long history of dancing, she has much to offer our dancers in the prairies. Todd is incredible at leading, which allows him to pull of the coolest stuff on the dance floor to make both his partner and himself look great (and feel great!). Together, Ramona and Todd will be coming to Edmonton to teach a repertoire of Lindy Hop, Balboa, Blues, and Jazz.

Live music will be provided Saturday Night, along with the best swing deejays in the prairies on Friday Night. Overall, we look forward to an amazing weekend of learning and dancing.

The Don Berner Quintet will be featured Saturday evening to play up rhythms from such artists as Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Artie Shaw, and more! Don Berner hosts a jazz program on CKUA; not only that, he is a highly regarded band leader and musician who's played for PJ Perry, Tommy Banks, and the Edmonton Symphony. He has played at the Edmonton Winspear, Jubilee, Jack Singer, 20 U.S. states, all across Canada, and even Hong Kong! We look forward to some great swing music provided by his quintet.
